Welcome to our club

We are a friendly bunch and always keen to welcome new people, whatever your ability and experience. If you want more from your hobby this is the club for you. Membership is open to anyone aged 16 or over, but younger people who are aged 14 or over and who have chosen photography as a study option, or as a hobby, may be admitted to club meetings and trips free of charge provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is an existing member. We meet once a fortnight on a Friday evening from 07:30 and we usually finish around 10:00.

Please check our programme for details of the dates for the current year. We have to avoid Easter Friday due to church activities.

Our members have a wide range of experience and styles and are keen to share their experience and tips to help you improve your photography. We use a wide range of equipment from SLR and mirrorless digital cameras to phones, tablets and film. We also have a stock of club equipment which we use on practical nights.

The club is non-competitive as we wish to maintain an all-inclusive atmosphere for members of all abilities. However we aim to improve our skills at every level, and to this end we have a comprehensive programme, which includes members’ images. We also have practical sessions making use of the church hall for indoor portrait and macro sessions or outside activities as well as local walks during the light evenings. In fact evenings are what ever the members suggest.

The annual programme is varied so there is something for everybody, whether listening to visiting lecturers, sharing their knowledge and photos, members’ presentations or practical sessions. There is always something good going on. It is whatever the members want it to be .

You can try us out free of charge for a night and if you decide to join we have an annual membership from September 1st to August 31st each year of just £1. We then pay £3 per club night which covers the cost of refreshments and good company. If you would like more information then please contact us using the form in the Contact Us section and we will be in touch.

Social Media Groups

The club has set up several member’s groups as follows:

WhatsApp

This is our main site used by members for discussion and general communications to allow easy interchange of views and photos. All members, no matter their knowledge or experience, are encouraged to participate as it continues our ongoing policy of helping each other to learn about our common interest in photography.

There are two sites;~

“IVPC-Members” is a general one to cover the above.

The second site, “IVPC-Photo Themes” is used for entering photos into a monthly theme for members interest and interaction of ideas.

It is not a competition.

Some members also exhibit their pictures on Flickr.
